Character: Tony Tony Chopper
Canon: Canon and canon point. One Piece, taken from prior to Thriller Bark arc, after rescuing Robin and the crew losing the Merry.
Age: 15
Background Information: Wiki Link
Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Chopper is both adorable and kind of odd. Given, you know, deer don't usually walk on two legs. Or talk. Or look like he does. But because he ate the Devil Fruit, he changed. So, his appearance would likely obviously be a big part of someone's first impression of him when meeting him. This is why he is especially initially usually shy and cautious with new people, given he has been shunned in the past for his appearance. He wears his heart on his sleeve, open with his emotions and feelings. Chopper is honest in this way and not one to lie or bluff, or at least not convincingly, if one really knows him. He is also the youngest of the Straw Hats, which is also evident in his demeanor, excitement, and wonder. Chopper also has a sweet tooth and is less initially inclined to deal with things by fighting, given his desire to help and heal people as a doctor. But he is very loyal and will fight to protect himself or those he cares about. He is determined and persistent in his desire to help others, going so far as to treat Marines. So he doesn't care who someone is; if he sees someone in need, he will endeavor to help them and treat them if they are injured or sick because that is what a doctor does.
--
For the Straw Hats, Chopper was immediately endeared to Nami when she was sick, and he treated her, leading her to compliment him on his medical skills and knowledge, guessing it was him rather than Kureha who had cared for her. He adores Nami and her compassion, even if she also scares him with how reckless she can be in regards to wanting more Berri. And her temper in general if someone angers her. He tends to obey whenever she gives him orders (such as when she tells him directions for navigating the ship for example, he doesn't question her.)
He was initially scared of Luffy and Sanji because they were both quite boisterous and wanted to eat him. Luffy was also chasing Chopper because he was curious about the talking reindeer and demanded Chopper join the crew even before he found out Chopper was a doctor (and they had needed one for the crew, given Nami getting sick and needing to travel and find someone to care for her). Chopper looks up to Sanji and Zoro in seeing them as examples of being a man, and loves goofing off sometimes with Luffy, even if there are occasions when even Chopper gets frustrated with Luffy's antics.
Chopper adores Usopp because of his stories. And that Usopp is relatable as one of the more timid crew members like Chopper. Chopper loves hearing Usopp's stories about his adventures and believes every word (including....about Sogeking, the figure that comes to save them on occasion that is actually Usopp in a mask is a completely different person....with that same distinct nose...) because Chopper is the most adorably gullible and trusting like that.
Chopper's journey, in general, with the Straw Hats has been about finding himself and boosting his confidence. He takes the lead and gains confidence in supporting another doctor when she is nervous and scared to treat the injured Marines alone after the other doctors have left. Chopper steps up and starts the treatment and surgery until she feels more comfortable and confident in her abilities and skills to do more herself. So he is showing that he is learning to step up and do what he has to, even if others might be scared (or tell him not to do it, in Nami's case, where she just wanted to get out of there.)
Chopper is learning to stand firm in his values and stick to those despite what others tell him. He is learning to pave his own path and do what he thinks is right. He learns to have more confidence in himself and his abilities and values. He shows this as he gets more comfortable around the Straw Hats and stands up against them, speaking up against their choices if he disagrees more over time.
Chopper is learning more about the world and things he likes that weren't available back on his island, such as cotton candy, his new favorite food he discovers while traveling with the crew, as another little example of things he discovers.
He is also discovering through other reactions to his appearance that not everyone is terrified of him, that some think he is adorable/cute (usually female characters find him cute). He is thus also learning to develop his self-esteem and self-confidence after being shunned for being different. To learn and accept that others do not mind or even approve of his appearance and find it cute, celebrating his difference. Through this, Chopper is learning self-acceptance and accepting himself as he is.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Chopper has a dream of practicing medicine to be able to cure anyone he comes across. He wants to be able to help people when they are hurt or injured because of what he went through in his own past. He lost his mentor before he came to be taken in by Kureha, which has greatly inspired him not to let that happen again. He needs to learn from it and do his best to be knowledgeable enough to be able to treat others he comes across. This is why he requests more medical textbooks to read and learn from when they get Berri (money) back home, so he can learn from these and better treat his crew if they get sick or hurt or anyone else he might come across that needs help on their travels.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
Chopper made a mistake when treating Hiriluk, giving him a poisonous mushroom. He misunderstood the significance of the skull and crossbones, meaning that something in the textbook was dangerous/poisonous because of Hiriluk's jolly roger with the sakura/cherry blossoms. He has learned from this and knows now to be mindful of things marked as poisonous. He's determined not to let this happen again, to treat everyone he can, and to help everyone he can, but there will always be some regret about what happened to Hiriluk.
4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Chopper has a major sweet tooth, with his favourite food being cotton candy. He is also kinda tsundere a bit with compliments. Telling people off for it but still looking rather pleased about the compliment anyway. And he fails to hide. It's kind of adorable.
Abilities & Inventory:

As for his inventory, Chopper would likely have:
- His pink hat
- His backpack (prob with some basic medical supplies - some plasters, bandages, some sort of antiseptic or ointment sort of thing? Medical textbook?)
- Rumbleballs (his own concoction to support his transformations)

ARMADA SELECTION
Corsairs. I'm going with this because well, while Chopper generally tries to behave and do right/help people. He is a pirate. He does recognize that sometimes you have to bend or even break the rules to do what is right. He might tell Luffy off sometimes, but he knows that the crew does mean well at the end of the day, even if they are reckless sometimes. Chopper is okay with breaking the rules if it means helping someone. He's even gone and treated Marines (the pirate's enemies), saying that is part of being a doctor; he can't ignore someone in need. This might go against his self-preservation and seem dangerous since said marines could end up coming after him and his crew. But he makes his own choices regardless of what others think or say, given Nami was initially not keen on this idea.
